Free YouTube Title Generator

Generate video title options from your topic, checked against YouTube’s 100-character limit and the roughly 60 characters that actually get shown.

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Enter a topic above to see title options.
These are templates, not AI. The same inputs always produce the same titles. That makes them instant and private, and it also means they are a starting point: pick the pattern that fits what you actually wrote, then rewrite it in your own words. A title that promises something the piece does not deliver earns a click and loses a reader.
What this tool does not do: Fixed templates, not AI. No search volume or competition data for YouTube — that comes from YouTube Studio and dedicated tools.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the topic of your video.
  2. Add a keyword and audience for more specific patterns.
  3. Watch the length: anything past about 60 characters gets cut off.
  4. Rewrite the one you pick so it matches the video honestly.

What is YouTube Title Generator?

YouTube titles do two jobs at once: they tell the algorithm what the video is about, and they persuade a person scrolling past to stop. The first wants clarity and the actual search terms; the second wants specificity and a reason to care.

The practical constraint is length. YouTube allows 100 characters but shows around 60 in search, suggestions and on mobile — where most watching happens. A title whose point arrives at character 80 has no point at all.

Best practices

  • Put the searchable terms in the first 60 characters.
  • Be specific: "in 8 minutes" beats "quickly", "£300" beats "cheap".
  • Let the title and thumbnail do different jobs rather than repeating each other.
  • Avoid all caps and rows of emoji; they read as clickbait and get treated as such.
  • Deliver what the title promises — retention is what YouTube actually rewards.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a YouTube title be?

Under 60 characters if you want all of it visible. The hard limit is 100, but the rest is truncated in most places the title appears.

Does this use AI?

No. It arranges your inputs into proven title patterns using fixed templates. It is a starting point, not a script.

Do keywords in titles help videos rank?

Yes — YouTube reads the title to understand the video, and it is one of the stronger signals. But watch time and retention decide what gets recommended, and a keyword-stuffed title that oversells the video hurts both.

These tools handle the checks. If you would rather someone did the work — the audit, the fixes and the content — that is what I do.
